Discretionary Housing Payment
If you are receiving Housing Benefit but are still having difficulty meeting your rent payments, you may be able to get extra help from the Discretionary Housing Payment Fund.

The Government has provided additional DHP funding to Local Authorities to assist with Welfare Reform.  DHP is intended to assist those who require further financial assistance in order to meet housing costs.  DHP is a limited fund and decision makers will look to apply priority in the following circumstances:

• To assist with ongoing rental costs for a disabled person in significantly adapted accommodation
• To assist with short term rental costs while the tenant seeks employment, or secures alternative accommodation
• To assist with short term costs where the tenant is at risk of losing their tenancy resulting from an unexpected financial crisis

You will need to provide evidence to support your DHP application.  A DHP application form can be downloaded at www.glasgow.gov.uk/ben or phone 0141 287 5050 and ask for a form to be sent to you, or call at your local Council Tax & Benefit Office.
