ENABLE Scotland

ENABLE Scotland is a charity run by its members. 
A new "Money Support Project" funded by The Scottish
Legal Aid Board (SLAB) has been introduced. 
The project directly supports individuals with a learning
disability, within the areas of Glasgow & North Lanarkshire.
Service users are given support to manage their debt issues
and to support the ongoing development and
accessibility of specialist debt and prevention
resources available for people with a learning disability.

Glasgow Learning - Adult Literacy & Numeracy

This site is for anyone age 16 and over who lives, works or studies in Glasgow and wants to find out more about help reading, writing, spelling or numbers.

These learning sessions are delivered mainly in small groups with the adults working to their own Individual Learning Plan. Adults can seek help for a range of reasons including, developing writing skills for CVs and job applications, developing reading skills to access information, developing numeracy skills for household budgeting. Whatever the reason, there is a range of free learning programmes.

Glasgow's Learning - ESOL

Glasgow Communities offers ESOL learning in groups, based on assessed language levels. Adults will go through an initial ESOL assessment to determine level and are referred to an appropriate group. Learning sessions run for 2 hours per week with adults attending for varying lengths of time depending on level and goals.

North West Area: ESOL enquiries should be made through Glasgow Communities North West Team on 0141 276 1525

North East Area: ESOL enquiries should be made through Glasgow Communities North East Team on 0141 276 1785

South Area: For information on an English level test and information about English as a Second Language classes, refer to local posters in libraries (updated throughout the year)

RCA Trust and Gamcare

Sailors' Children Society

Through the Child Support Scheme the Sailor' Children Society currently supports over 400 children whose families have served in the fishing fleets or the Royal/Merchant Navy. We also help children whose parent has worked on the inland waterways, canals and rivers.  The aim of the Society is to provide not only the basic necessities of life such as clothing, but to allow the children to partake in everyday activities that will enable them to achieve their full potential and take their place in society.
